Beyoncé and JAY-Z will be recognized at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards for accelerating LGBTQ acceptance. The AP reports that the Carters will receive the organization’s Vanguard Award for being “allies who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.” Queen Bey is being honored for speaking out about marriage equality nationwide and for including members of the LBGTQ community in her music videos. Jay, who received the GLAAD Special Recognition Award last year for his song and video for “Smile,” is being honored because of his inclusion of LGBTQ artists in his work. Previous recipients of the Vanguard Award include Cher, Janet Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, and Antonio Banderas. The 30th annual awards ceremony is being held on March 28 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
